Encouraging feedback

A young man was baptised in a Scottish church this summer and shared that one of the most significant points on his journey to faith was a conversation with Street Pastors one night.

Our Glasgow Street Pastor initiative operated daily Street Pastor patrols in the city centre to offer practical help and support to those involved and attending these much loved Games. They had a number of good conversations with people. Here is a photo of Chris Jewell and another Street Pastor with a swimming coach from the Ghana team.

More Street Pastors and Prayer Pastors commissioned

Street Pastors and Prayer Pastors were recently commissioned at services in Inverness and Orkney. We welcome their commitment and enthusiasm for this special ministry.

Street Pastors were guests at the Scottish Royal Garden Party at Palace of Holyroodhouse

Ian and Gordon from Moray Street and School Pastors attended, and Cheryl and Roy attended from Paisley Street Pastors. They had a wonderful time. Gordon says, ‘We had loads of conversations and so many people wanted to talk to us. One of those included an officer from of the Royal Company of Archers, who was very interested in the work of Street Pastors.’

The team had lots of good conversations, and many people wanted to thank them for the work that all Street Pastors do, to listen care and help. Gordon and Ian even got to briefly meet the King, which was amazing!

A team of eight Street Pastors from across the country patrolled and exhibited at this year’s Magnitude Festival in Lendrick Muir with over 2,300 attending.

This is our second year there, with an extended team this year, and we were delighted to offer help and support, including practical things like litter picking and stewarding as needed, plus late-night patrols.

We loved welcoming people to our stand, with giveaways and competition prizes, as well as information as to what we do across the country. We have had a number of enquires about joining Street Pastors.

Street Pastors get a real ‘thank you’

‘I had a fall on the on the street one Saturday evening while out with friends. The Pastors came to help and I cannot thank you all enough for all your help and assistance. I was in shock after the fall and hurt my knee and arm but thankfully nothing broken although badly bruised and sore. I still feel as if I fought 10 rounds with Mike Tyson so I am resting up with painkillers and Tiger Balm on my sore back, neck knees and hips. Thankfully the Pastors managed to get a taxi over to me and we made it to the train station, and my friends daughter picked me up and took me home with my husband taking care of me since then. Street Pastors, thank you so much for the blanket and all of your help getting me off the ground safely and all your first aid help too. You truly were Angels of the Roadside. Everyone was very kind.’
